A New Dawn for YouTube Crowdfunding

A New Dawn for YouTube Crowdfunding

Each month, YouTube receives more than 1 billion unique visitors. Combined with the regulars, this equals nearly 6 billion hours of video watching each month. To meet the demand, users upload more than 100 hours of video every minute. Such statistics illustrate YouTube’s popularity and influence. They also show how vast an audience exists for filmmakers, gamers, musicians, and other account holders. To such projects’ benefit, YouTube will soon change the site’s creator-consumer dynamics by integrating “cards” to major crowdfunding portals, allowing channels to promote and accept donations directly through YouTube.

Crowdfunding integration will mean a lot to creators and supporters alike because it keeps things native. In other words, it stops channels from going to other non-specialized websites for funding. For those with many subscribers, this will help immensely with promotion, particularly since YouTube already connects with other social portals. In many ways, having a  local and familiar crowdfunding system will also reduce the learning curve involved in the process. With apps such as YouTube Creator Studio, projects can effortlessly track donations, comments, and other notifications, so YouTubers can focus most on content.
